The University of Baguio alongside several other universities in the Philippines sent delegates to the University of Delhi in India to participate in the 4th International Forensic Science Conference 2023. The three-day conference was organized by the Sherlock Institute of Forensic Science and revolved around the theme of “Forensic Science Beyond Interdisciplinary Applications”.
The conference explored a number of specializations in Forensic Science, such as Fingerprint Analysis, Forensic Anthropology, Forensic Photography, Forensic Medicine, Forensic Nursing, and Forensic Veterinary. Forensic Science experts from both the industry and the academe all over the world served as speakers for the event, exploring new perspectives on forensic science and broadening the knowledge of everyone involved.
The International Forensic Science Conference began in 2019, arranged by Forensic Anthropologist Dr. Ma. Teresa De Guzman from the University of the Philippines Manila alongside Forensic Pathologist Dr. Raquel Fortun. The conference was established with the goal of delivering new information on Forensic Sciences to other universities that offer a Bachelor’s Degree in Forensic Science. In 2022, the University of Baguio School of Criminal Justice and Public Safety hosted the 3rd International Forensic Science Conference at the Plaza Lodge.
The university’s participation in the conference is in accordance with SDG No. 17: Partnerships and SDG No. 4: Quality Education. Through events such as the International Forensic Science Conference and partnerships with other universities both in the Philippines and abroad, UB hopes to continue offering opportunities for both students and faculty alike to be able to broaden their horizons and improve their knowledge of their field of study.
